From the visionary director of Run Lola Run comes Three, a provocative and sensual exploration of love, identity, and the unexpected paths to self-discovery. Set against the backdrop of Berlin, this film delves into the lives of a couple whose relationship is reignited through unexpected connections. Hanna and Simon are in their early forties and have been together for two decades. Despite their deep affection for each other, their relationship has become routine and emotionally distant. Their lives take an unexpected turn when both individuals, unbeknownst to the other, fall in love with the same man, Adam, leading to a profound exploration of their love’s boundaries. 

In this “forbiddingly sober and sophisticated comedy of adultery and sexual experimentation” (The New York Times), Sophie Rois, Sebastian Schipper, and Devid Striesow deliver powerful performances, bringing depth and authenticity to their complex characters.

Premiering at the 2010 Venice International Film Festival, Three was nominated for the Golden Lion. The film went on to win multiple accolades at the 2011 German Film Awards, including Best Director, Best Female Lead, and Best Editing.
