Karriere Quantum Camp 2026

Following the successful Career Quantum Camps held since 2024 in Dublin, Rome, Madrid, London, and Sofia, the programme has now made its stop in Riga. For the sixth Career Quantum Camp, ten teams from seven European countries came together to explore the fascinating world of quantum technologies while further developing their German language skills and deepening their interest in German culture. Each team consisted of one teacher and two students from Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Türkiye, or Hungary.

The camp was once again organized in cooperation with our Berlin-based partner, Junge Tüftler. At the heart of the programme were hands-on quantum workshops, where participants gained exciting insights into current developments and creative applications of quantum technologies. At the same time, the programme offered numerous opportunities to actively use German. For example, the students explored the Latvian capital during a German-language scavenger hunt. Quantum technologies also played an important role in the language classes, creating a dynamic connection between language learning and cutting-edge scientific topics.

One of the distinctive features of Career Quantum is its interdisciplinary approach. The programme is aimed not only at teachers of physics or STEM subjects but brings together educators from a wide range of disciplines. While the students attended German lessons, the teachers participated in the Teacher Ambassadors’ Programme, where they developed innovative teaching ideas and materials to help integrate quantum-related topics into a variety of subject areas.

Beyond the workshops, the camp week also offered many memorable experiences. During a shared pedal boat tour on the Daugava River, participants had the opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere from the very first day. Another highlight was the visit to Riga Technical University, where the group was able to observe quantum experiments firsthand and gain insights into ongoing research projects. The week concluded with a public showcase on Friday evening, during which the teams presented their creative work and project outcomes.

Supported by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space and organized in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Irland, the Goethe-Institut Latvia, and project partner TüftelLab, the Career Quantum Camp once again succeeded in bringing together scientific curiosity, cultural exchange, and international collaboration. The result was an inspiring week filled with new perspectives, exciting discoveries, and valuable new connections.
