Kick-Off in Brussels

At the beginning of December 2024, the LIBRA.I. consortium met in Brussels for the project's official kick-off meeting. This gathering marks the beginning of a two-year journey to implement artificial intelligence (AI) in library-based media literacy training.

Hosted at the Goethe-Institut Brussels in the heart of the EU quarter, the meeting brought together partners from Latvia, Poland, and Belgium, each bringing unique expertise across borders to drive forward this critical mission.

The consortium recognises it will be challenging to keep up with the rapid advancement of AI and see libraries standing at the forefront of digital transformation. LIBRA.I. will equip librarians and educators with the tools and knowledge to navigate AI responsibly. Furthermore, the project will, in the end, play a crucial role in equipping the librararies' communities with critical thinking skills and digital resilience. The kick-off meeting laid the groundwork for the project's key objectives, work packages, and collaborative strategies, ensuring a strong and impactful rollout.

By placing ethical AI and digital education at its core, LIBRA.I. is not just a project but a movement to redefine the role of libraries in the digital age. It is set to reshape the future of media literacy in Europe.

Stay engaged. Stay informed. Become AI-literate.
