The International German Olympics
The International German Olympiad (IDO) is the world's largest German language competition. In the summer of 2022, the IDO will take place in Hamburg. You can represent your home country there!
We are looking for the best German learners from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Jamaica! Take part and show your creativity, your German and your intercultural competence! You can win a trip to Hamburg in the summer of 2022, including flights, accommodation and meals, where you will meet the best German learners from all over the world and take part in the IDO 2022 finals.

The aim of the IDO is to promote young international talent, to get young people abroad excited about the German language, to strengthen mutual tolerance and to give them access to German culture, business and civil society. At the same time, the IDO also promotes Germany as a place to study and work. The International German Olympiad is organized by the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the International Association of Teachers of German.
