Blond, bespectacled and pale, Max doesn't quite resemble the Native Americans of the Wild West who he greatly admires, but that doesn't stop the 10-year-old's obsession with imitating the traditions of his heroes. When away at a Native American themed camp, Max discovers that a part in the Karl May Festival has suddenly become available: the son of Winnetou, the Apache protagonist in May's famed adventure novels. Convinced that this is the character he was born to play and aided by his new friend Mortem, Max puts his passion for the Native Americans into action to defy the odds stacked up against him and land his dream role.
