The 10th Jubilee edition of the “Audi Festival of German Films” has now finished. Audiences around Australia were treated to 39 films under the headings of “GERMAN CURRENTS”, “RETRO 2001-2011” and “RADICAL DOCS”. Over 24,300 people flocked to be moved and inspired, excited and confronted by the art of German film making. Alongside an exciting focus on documentaries, made possible through cooperation with ZDF/ARTE, award winning features such as Goethe! and Almanya were presented to an Australian audience. Festival guests included Wim Wenders, Bughart Klaußner, Björn Richie Lob, Hanns Georg Rodek and Andreas Rothbauer. The final highlight of the festival was the 3D Australian premiere of “Pina” at the Sydney Opera House, followed by a Q&A with the director, Wim Wenders. Our audience award went to “Vincent wants to sea”.
