Libraries

Assabil is a Lebanese NGO founded in 1997 to establish and support public libraries in Lebanon. The association coordinates a network of more than 25 public libraries. It aims to support the build-up of libraries and conducts training sessions for libraries' staff, organizes activities in public libraries in Lebanon and offers workshops, seminars and cultural events.

The Lebanese Board on Books for Young People (LBBY) is a non-profit organizsation, founded in 1974. It also is a member of the international IBBY with 65 member states. LBBY aims to foster children’s reading abilities and to promote children and international books.

Lebanese Library Association (LLA), est. 1960 in Beirut, has 212 members. It aims to optimize the Lebanese libraries’ standards and the librarians’ training and research. LLA organizes conferences, seminars and fairs and supports the international exchange of library personell.
