Workshop "Tolerance and Accepting Others"
Sally Mashaly
“Tolerance is an important issue to me but also for a whole community since we have been struggling in Egypt with many conflicts regarding this topic over so many situations as people seem to be lacking the knowledge how to deal accordingly”, says Sally Mashaly a graduate from Civic Education programme and trainer of the workshop on “Tolerance and Accepting the Other”.
In her workshops Sally tackles tolerance as complete concept for the participants not only to understand oneself but further how to think and act tolerant towards others. Through interactive formats she explains different concepts and introduces activities that are concerned with working on related themes such as acceptance, diversity identity and differences. Throughout the process personal experiences shall create the link between the workshop’s content itself and the interaction within the group. As a result, participants are equipped with a set of tools that helps them understanding themselves more and deal tolerantly with conflict situations that involve others. The workshop further points out that each and every one has a very unique identity and that it is therefore crucial to tolerate each other’s lifestyle and habits as they can differ from one another.
For the future, Sally is interested in working deeper on topics of diversity such as women empowering, women equality, combating violence against women and domestic violence. Since she comes from a journalism background Sally continues engaging in writing articles about human and especially women rights.
