Michaela Prinzinger, born in Vienna in 1963, lives as a freelance writer and translator in Berlin and Leiden, in the Netherlands. She studied Byzantine / Neo-Greek and Turkic / Islamic Studies at the University of Vienna. She received the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation in 2015 and is the founder of the culture portal www.diablog.eu, German-Greek encounters. She is conducting and participating in seminars as a teacher and mentor for young translators. Among others, she has translated the works of Petros Markaris, Rhea Galanaki, Ioanna Karystiani and Maria Stefanopoulou.
