About the Project
Making profits—and at the same time contributing to the alleviation of social and environmental problems. This has long since ceased to be a contradiction. Social entrepreneurship combines entrepreneurial activities with a commitment to social responsibility and to the achievement of the United Nations’ sustainability goals. Our thematic dossier with examples from Indonesia and Germany shows how different the approaches can be.

Joining the effort to boost social entrepreneurship in Indonesia, Goethe-Institut, BINUS University and Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia partnered up to organize a four-day hackathon for university students.
