Arts & Dialogue

„Arts & Dialogue“ Symposium and Exhibition © Goethe-Institut Jordanien

As part of a symposium and an exhibition WIJDAN Art Space opens its doors for an intensive exchange between European and Arab artists.

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, a group exhibition brought together creatives from Jordan, the Arab world, and Europe for a powerful week of cultural exchange and collaboration. The exhibition was preceded by a five-day intensive working symposium that was designed as a platform for creative exchange, collaboration, and dialogue among professional artists from Austria, Germany, Greece, France, the Netherlands, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq.
The aim is to raise western audiences' awareness of our issues and what we are going through.

Rooted in the theme Arts and Dialogue, the symposium was more than just a space for artistic creation—it was a gathering where artists connected, shared ideas, and built lasting relationships that have since extended beyond the symposium. All works displayed in the concluding exhibition were offered for sale for a charitable cause. The proceeds went to Tkiyet Um Ali to support families in need.
The Goethe-Institut Jordan had the pleasure of inviting German Kenyan artist Nicholas Mboya to participate in the symposium and exhibition. Born in Kisumu, Kenya, Nicholas conducted his studies in Fine Arts and Design from Mwangaza School of Fine Arts and the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg. He is currently working as a Hamburg-based multidisciplinary artist whose expansive skill set includes using photographs, texts, and found objects to recreate graphic images, sculptural forms, and site-specific kinetic artworks. Nicholas’ recent artistic and conceptual interests reflect his ontological observation between Africa and Europe mainly focused on Germany and his country of origin Kenya on issues such as religion, economy, language, land, and identity politics to uncover underlying repetitive patterns that foster habits leading to cultural and traditional norms between these two peripheries.

The “Arts & Dialogue” Symposium and Exhibition was organized by the Jordan National Gallery with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan and the European Union National Institutes for Culture in Jordan.
