Yemen 3n Qurb

The exhibition YEMEN 3N QURB: A CLOSER LOOK ON YEMEN brings together the work of four Yemeni photographers who explore the intimate, the everyday, and the overlooked in a country too often seen only through the lens of conflict to focus on what is often missed, overlooked, or erased.

From the contents of pockets and the corners of quiet homes to fleeting gestures in streets and shared spaces, each project offers a nuanced perspective on the human experience.

Together, these projects form a living archive of Yemen rooted in presence, beauty, and the quiet force of personal truth.

This project was funded by the EU Delegation to Yemen and implemented by the Goethe-Institut Jordan.

Albaraa Mansoor Al-Sameai is a Yemeni documentary filmmaker and photographer with a deep passion for visual storytelling. Born and raised in Taiz, Yemen, he began his creative journey in 2010 with a mobile phone and a compact camera. In 2017, his passion turned into a profession as he started working with local and international organisations. With a background in Business Administration, Albaraa brings a unique perspective to his work, blending artistic vision with real-world narratives. His work focuses on capturing the essence of Yemeni culture, human emotions, daily life, and the country’s breathtaking landscapes. In 2023, Albaraa founded his own production company to document and share Yemen’s rich heritage and untold stories—challenging mainstream portrayals that reduce the country to conflict. His mission is to show the world the beauty, resilience, and humanity of Yemen. His work has been featured in several local and international exhibitions, including ta.dh.am and Roots of Identity in Amman, Jordan, supported by the Goethe-Institut and the European Union.

  • Anita Bursheh

Anita Bursheh is a Jordanian photographer, producer, and visual storyteller whose work centers on everyday life, human connection, and place. Born and raised in Amman, Jordan she began photographing not as a career choice but to understand the quiet, often invisible dynamics between people and the spaces they inhabit. Her photography focuses on what is often overlooked; moments of pause, shared emotions, and the subtle details that shape memory and identity. This approach carries into her work as a producer and content developer, where she has created documentaries, TV shows, and cultural series across the Middle East, exploring stories rooted in heritage, belonging, and lived experience. Whether behind a camera or in the field producing, Anita’s work is driven by a desire to observe rather than explain. She is also a Fujifilm brand ambassador and creator.
