DESIGNING INCLUSIVE PUBLIC SPACES
CREATIVE FORWARD FUND

The Goethe-Institut Jordan in cooperation with UN-Habitat is launching a fund for designers in Jordan to promote cross-innovation and sustainable approaches for inclusive public spaces.
The fund is launched as part of the Culture and Creative Industries project “takween” which is part of the Global Project CCI which is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut.

Circular Design: Material Innovation & Entrepreneurship

This program equips emerging designers, creatives and entrepreneurs from various backgrounds such as architecture, fashion, product or packaging design who are based in either Jordan, Lebanon or Iraq, with the knowledge and guidance to develop and apply sustainable materials in various contexts and turn their ideas and approaches into sustainable products and businesses.

TAKWEEN ACCELERATOR PROGRAM

The takween Accelerator Program is intended to support up to 15 design start-ups in the cultural and creative industries sector in Jordan, whose sources of income have been severely affected by the pandemic. Over the period of 2,5 months, the selected start-ups will participate in intensive training and mentoring sessions to strengthen their skills to be able to scale up and accelerate their business development, to enhance their resilience, to overcome challenges in a sustainable way, and to improve their prospects for employment and income within the CCIs in Jordan. PRODUCT DESIGN FELLOWSHIP: TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY & RESILIENCE

The Product Design Fellowship is a skill enhancing program for (young and) mid-career designers whose work has been affected by the pandemic. Apart from the learning program that specifically focuses on the intersections of economic, social and environmental sustainability, each selected designer will receive a monthly stipend over the period of 2,5 months as a support to boost resilience. Cooperation

The project “Cultural and Creative Industries” is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. It improves employment and income opportunities for creative professionals in six partner countries; Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa and operates mainly in the music, fashion, design and animation sectors. In addition to promoting the development of entrepreneurial, digital, creative and technical skills through training programmes, the project aims to strengthen the framework conditions and the ecosystem of the cultural and creative industries.
