We recommend the following procedure and questions to anyone wishing to take a Goethe-Zertifikat exam:

Select the level of exam you wish to take from this page.
Download the sample set of the exam (via the link under 'DOWNLOAD MATERIALS'). You can listen to the listening section of the exam on the website.
Complete all the tasks in the Reading, Listening and Writing sections without using dictionaries or other aids and, most importantly, within the allotted time.
Check your answers in the Reading and Listening sections using the Examination Sheets included in the Model Set.

Question 1: Were you able to complete all the questions in the time allotted?
Question 2: Did you answer at least 60% of the questions in the Reading and Listening sections correctly?

If you can answer 'yes' to both questions and you are familiar with the different tasks as a result of working through the model set, you are well placed to pass the exam at the level you have chosen.
If your answer to one or both questions is 'no', you should continue to practise these skills before booking an exam and look at a lower level exam first.
