The exhibition renovated Wildness is a collaborative project by Barnabas Jakob Herrmann and Tanakoji, who are currently studying at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. It explores the contemporary relationship between humans and nature.
The relationship between humans and nature has changed throughout history. In the present day, due to technological development, the boundary between the two has become increasingly abstract. As technology progresses within the framework of human biological needs, what is considered natural or wild becomes strongly influenced by human activities - especially by industries that use nature as a resource.
By utilizing natural resources and creating a form of “nature” that suits human life while also fulfilling human longing for the natural, we arrive at the paradoxical notion of an “artificial nature.”
Amid these major transformations of the modern era, this exhibition expresses through paintings and sculptural works the question of how we can interpret such contradictory forms of nature.
