How can effective testing practices be achieved in foreign language teaching?
A compact workshop with Prof. Dr. Lena Heine on March 24 at the Goethe‑Institut Tokyo will demonstrate how teachers can professionally plan, administer, and evaluate exams.
Workshop Announcement: Designing Professional Assessments in Foreign Language Teaching
Although preparing, administering, and evaluating assessments are essential components of foreign language instruction and professional teaching practice, this topic is often not sufficiently addressed in teacher training—particularly outside the English-speaking world.
This important subject will be the focus of a workshop led by Prof. Dr. Lena Heine from Ruhr University Bochum, to be held on March 24, 2026, at the Goethe-Institut Tokyo.
Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2026, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Venue: Goethe-Institut Tokyo, Room 207
Further information about the workshop content will be published here in the coming weeks.
Registration is now open: tomoko.maruyama@goethe.de
The registration deadline is March 18, 2026.
Speaker: Prof. Dr. Lena HEINE (Ruhr University Bochum)
From 2010 to 2017, Lena Heine was Professor of Language Teaching Research, and since 2017 she has held a professorship in Language Education and Multilingualism at Ruhr University Bochum. Her research focuses primarily on content‑ and language‑integrated learning, especially on the register of academic language. In addition to promoting adequate qualification opportunities for teachers of German as a second language in Germany, she contributes to the methodological training of experts in empirical foreign‑language and multilingualism research. Since 2023, she has served as Chair of the German Association for Foreign Language Research and represents the foreign‑language disciplines as a board member of the German Society for Subject Didactics.
Prof. Dr. Lena Heine is a guest lecturer at the 30th DaF Seminar of the JGG.
