Dust in the Stomach Dust in the Stomach

Dust in the Stomachis a collaborative work by performance artist Karu Miyoshi and sculptor Rebeka Akane Fimmel. The project explores how artwork and audience interact in a setting removed from external gaze. Visitors are invited to enter the space individually. The installation draws on processes of accumulation, destruction and transformation, proposing the notion of an unstable ground. Visitors are invited to touch the installation. In this situation, each decision becomes an action: to touch, to hesitate, or to refrain. The work establishes a condition in which the viewer takes agency and responsibility.

  • Karu Miyoshi

Karu Miyoshi, born in 2001 in Osaka. Lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. Miyoshi works across performance, installation, painting, and video. Through clothing, he explores the boundaries and affiliations of the body. By expanding garments and incorporating multiple bodies, he blurs individual contours and questions assumptions about the subject and bodily ownership. He understands the subject as something that is constantly reshaped through its relationships with others and its environment. Invisible and amorphous realms such as touch or personal space are spatially restructured.
By manipulating the provisional boundaries between body, others, and space, he reveals their mutability and challenges the very conditions under which relationships are formed.
