PASCH Youth Courses
in Germany

Juku 2022 ©

As part of the initiative "Schools: Partners for the Future" (PASCH), the Goethe-Institut organises international youth courses for students from PASCH schools from all over the world. Each year, scholarship holders from over 100 nations, who excel at their schools and are motivated to learn German, come together to learn German in international settings.

About the youth courses

  • INTENSIVE GERMAN LESSONS

German lessons by qualified teachers according to the language level of the learners are the focus of the youth courses. All participants have the opportunity to take a Goethe-Institut examination during their language course in Germany.
  • GETTING TO KNOW GERMANY

In addition to the regular leisure programme with daily changing sports, cultural and leisure activities at the course location and in the surrounding area, the scholarship holders take part in excursions and outings, during which they also visit universities and research institutions, as well as German companies. In this way, they get to know Germany as a place to study.
  • NETWORKING AND INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE

During the three-week youth courses, the scholarship holders have the unique experience of learning German in an international learning community. They network with German learners from all over the world and - thanks to the Young Ambassador Programme - with students from Germany who accompany the courses on site.

Overview

Each year around 900 PASCH students from all over the world are invited to join the PASCH Youth Courses in Germany. Over three weeks, participants can improve their German, work on intercultural projects, and experience everyday life in different parts of the country—at course locations ranging from St. Peter-Ording in the north to Benediktbeuern in the south.

Malaysian students took part each year, with 16 participants in 2022 and 2023, and 8 participants in 2024. They attended courses in cities such as St. Peter-Ording, Goslar, Dresden, and Pforzheim. The young learners then report on their projects and experiences in a blog.

In 2025, from 29 June to 19 July, 8 Malaysian students will also take part in the PASCH youth courses in St. Peter-Ording.

From our participants

The PASCH Youth Course is more than just a language program—it's a life-changing journey. Here’s what some of our Malaysian participants had to say about their unforgettable experience in Germany:
PASCH JUKU 2022 in Sankt Peter Ording was indeed an amazing experience as I had this opportunity to interact with students from 7 different countries. I also get to learn and understand more about the culture and people in Germany. To me, the three weeks will be forever memorable.
Poh Sim Ean (2022)
It was a great experience to learn German with so many students from different countries. I played games, did different activities and enjoyed it to the fullest. I hope I can experience it again in the future. Finally, I also improved my language skills. Thank you very much!
Jivessh Venan (2022)
I think my time there was an "epochal event" for my life. I really enjoyed the activities and scenery Dresden was very beautiful. However, the things I really enjoyed was meeting the students from across the world with the same passion for German as myself. As for my memorable experience, I would never forget our trip around Dresden. Me and my friends had a great time shopping, sightseeing and just bonding.
Khayra Hanani binti Khairulanuar (2023)
The youth course was a once-in-a-lifetime experience where I had the opportunity to learn, make new friends, and grow. It really boosted my confidence in communicating with people from all over through language and shared experiences. I truly had fun!
Daania Putri binti Johari (2023)
Wonderful experience and I am very grateful to meet new people and to learn about other countries - Above all I really improved my German fluency, and I love the country and I really would like to go back in the future.
Tan Kate-Lynn (2024)
Before attending the Juku programme, I wasn’t confident speaking German, but from the very first day I arrived in Hamburg, I began to feel much more comfortable. Every day, I learned new German words, and it really helped improve my skills. My biggest souvenir, though, is the amazing friends I made along the way.
