Internet is part of our daily lives: the information shared on social media and the content shaped by generative IA has a direct impact on how we eat, what we buy or how we engage with our democracies. In recent years, unknown characters have grown huge audiences on social media that have converted to votes a political representatives. As fact-checkers, we monitor this digital landscape, looking for narratives, disinformation agents that shape the public opinion of contemporary societies.

In this masterclass with Alba Tobella (Verificat), we will dive on the work of fact-checking organizations to discover how journalists can incorporate this perspective. The masterclass will be in English.

Speaker

Alba Tobella
Journalist and co-founder of Verificat. She was a correspondent for the Associated Press and France-Presse agencies in Colombia and Uruguay, and a freelance reporter in Mexico. She has also worked at El País, published in Univision, AJ+, Esquire, and La Vanguardia, among others, and was editor of Código Nuevo magazine. She has a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the University of Barcelona. Alba is head of content and responsible for fact-checking.
