Call for Experts:
Join the Library Residencies for a Sustainable Future

The library residency creates space for creative ideas, promotes sustainable action, and strengthens libraries as vibrant places of change. The goal is to foster ecological responsibility and establish libraries as centers of competence for sustainability.
 

• Strengthening libraries as sustainability hubs: Develop and implement educational formats on topics such as recycling, environmental education, and circular economy.
• Libraries as networking spaces: Promote exchange between librarians, experts, journalists, and activists in the fields of environment and sustainability.
• Libraries as initiator of social change: Embed sustainability as an integral part of library work.

As an expert in the field of environment and sustainability, you will be a guest at a library for a one-week residency. Together, you will develop new educational formats and implement events for library visitors and stakeholders from the library sector. You will work closely with library colleagues during the residency week.
The residency is based on a spirit of partnership!
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in contributing their expertise within the context of library work. Emphasis is placed on creative methodologies and the development of innovative event formats.
 

• Active engagement and interest in sustainable education
• Willingness to collaborate closely with the host libraries before and during the one-week residency
• Willingness to network with other experts and libraries during online workshops and the final event in Warsaw

1. Call for Applications: until July 25, 2025
2. Online Kick-off and Matchmaking: September 2025
3. Three Online Workshops for experts and libraries (input and exchange): September to December 2025
4. Residency Period (one-week stays): October or November 2025
5. Final Event in Warsaw for fellows and librarians: January 2026

All travel and accommodation costs for the experts will be covered by the Goethe-Institut, a stipend will be paid to cover the effort involved. Travel and accommodation costs for the final event in Warsaw will also be covered.
