Boniface Mwangi

Boniface Mwangi is an award-winning Kenyan photojournalist, activist and TED-fellow who is involved in social-political activism through his initiative Team Courage. In his photography he depicts the social reality of his country and points out political grievances. His images of the post-election violence that hit Kenya in 2007/2008 became known world-wide.

Mwangi is also the founder of Picha Mtaani, a youth-led peace and reconciliation initiative that seeks to reconcile Kenyans and organizes photographic street exibitons. As well as “Pawa 254”, a creative hub in which art and activism merge. Shortly after it was found “Pawa 254” became one of the most important and thrilling cultural centers in Nairobi.
