Aya de Yopougon
Aya of Yop City is an animated film adapted from a series of six bande
dessinée albums written by Marguerite Abouet and drawn by Clément
Oubrerie. Tracking the adventures of a 19-year-old girl living in
Yopougon, a working-class neighborhood of the Ivory Coast capital, the
film offers up an intriguing snapshot of West African life in the 1970s,
with a fanciful vintage soundtrack to boot.
