Contemporary dance! What is that? Strange movements? Abstract? Unconventional? Weird? You don’t get it? Don’t worry, you will. After meeting the choreographers on social media in a new series of dance films called Dansi tena, they will make you fall in love with the art and become its biggest fan. Follow the formula:
Watch the dance
Listen to the choreographer
Watch the dancers again! Enjoy, and tell us how you feel afterwards!
About Dance again
Muda Africa, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut, brings you a brand new programme called Dansi Tena (Dance again). It is a series of contemporary dance films created by Tanzanian and East African dancers, choreographers and videographers. Contemporary dance is a new art form in the East Africa region and it is sometimes seen as ‘weird’, ‘strange’ and ‘abstract’. Dance again films will demystify contemporary dance by having conversations with the choreographers who will explain the story, the movements and the emotions behind each creation. The viewer is requested to watch the dance film, listen to the choreographer and then watch the dance film again with a new enlightenment that will have come from the choreographer’s conversation. Dansi tena will take place from September and it will replace Muda Africa's annual 2020 Time 2 Dance festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
