INTRODUCTION
The "Translation Hub" project has been established with the objective of training and equipping a team of new literary translators with the necessary skills to translate from German to Vietnamese. The initiative was initiated by the Goethe-Institut Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.OBJECTIVES
- Support and Develop Young German-Vietnamese Literary Translators: The project aims to nurture and support emerging literary translators in the German-Vietnamese context.
- Connect Generations of Translators: By fostering connections between different generations of translators, the project aims to create a supportive network and promote the translation and publication of German-Vietnamese literary works.
- Provide Essential Resources: Through specialized training programs focused on German-Vietnamese literary translation, young translators receive the necessary resources. These training sessions are conducted by experienced Vietnamese – German translators.
TIMELINE
- October: In-depth training in Hanoi.
- November: In-depth training in Hue.
- December: In-depth training in Ho Chi Minh City.
- Each city’s in-depth training program is expected to last for 2 days, typically on Saturdays and Sundays during the month.
- Selected project participants will receive full support for accommodation and travel expenses.
OPPORTUNITIES
- Participants will engage in training sessions led by experienced German-Vietnamese translators from both Vietnam and Germany.
- Your translated works will have the oppurtunity to be featured in a compilation curated by the Goethe-Institut.
- In cooperation with the renowned Literary Colloquium Berlin (lcb), two participants will be invited to the International Meeting of Translators of German-Language Literature (IÜT) in Berlin and to the Leipzig Book Fair 2025.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Candidates should have a minimum B2 level of proficiency in German and aspire to become literary translators from German to Vietnamese.
- Applicants must be 16 years old or older.
- Prior published translation works are not mandatory.

Since its inception in July 2018, Zzz Review has established a strong presence among Vietnamese readers, offering diverse, contemporary perspectives and foundational knowledge on literature both within and beyond the country.
