European Literature Days 2026
Literature|The Distance Between Us: Loneliness and Solidarity in European Literature
European Literature Days returns in 2026 with a renewed focus on loneliness and solidarity—marking both the return of one of the most significant European literary festivals in Vietnam and a return to one of literature’s most enduring concerns: the human longing for connection across distance and difference.
In the twenty‑first century, loneliness takes on new forms, shaped by technology, cultural and generational divides, and increasingly fragile bonds of community. Against this backdrop, how can we think about solidarity today? Over ten days in Hanoi, Huế, and Ho Chi Minh City, leading voices of contemporary European literature come together to explore these questions through readings, discussions, and workshops - inviting audiences to reflect on how literature can still imagine solidarity in a fractured world.
