Mobility Grants for Artists
Supporting intercontinental exchange and professional development
Who can apply: Individual artists, cultural workers, curators, and researchers from any creative discipline. We welcome applications from theatre makers, visual artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians, dancers, photographers, and digital creators. Both emerging and established practitioners are encouraged to apply.
What we support: Research trips that inform new artistic work, collaborative projects with artists from other countries, residencies at cultural institutions, participation in festivals and cultural events, and professional development opportunities. Your mobility must clearly connect to your artistic development and demonstrate genuine partnerships in your destination country.
Where you can go: The programme focuses first on strengthening connections within Africa, supporting travel between African countries to build continental networks and collaborations. We also welcome applications for Africa-Europe exchanges, particularly where you have existing partnerships or invitations from European institutions. You must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa or an EU country to apply.
Financial support: We cover travel costs (up to €400 within Africa, €1,800 from Europe), accommodation, daily allowances, and project expenses. Additional support is available for applicants with children, accessibility needs, or those choosing environmentally friendly travel options.
How to apply: Applications are reviewed monthly on a rolling basis. Each application is assessed for artistic quality, innovation, and potential to build lasting international connections. Strong applications clearly explain why mobility is essential for their project and demonstrate existing connections to their destination.
