Päivi Hietanen

Päivi Hietanen works as a City Design Manager for the City of Helsinki. She manages the Helsinki Lab which promotes design thinking within the city and develops a better city together with citizens.
 
Päivi holds a Master's degree in architecture from University of Oulu. She has previously worked for WDC Helsinki 2012, Aalto University, and Senate Properties. Her ambition is to seek solutions to complex societal challenges and drive public sector transformation.

Helsinki designs better life

In Helsinki, design has been an integral part of the city’s development for more than ten years. In the year 2012, Helsinki was designated as World Design Capital and later UNESCO City of Design.
