Accessibility

Accessibility is considered a vital aspect of a sensitive environment and equal participation at the festival. Our festival team has been trained in this regard by experts of their own experiences in order to best understand and accommodate the needs of our visitors with disabilities.

There will also be an awareness team on duty at the festival so that all visitors can feel safe and comfortable. The Goethe-Institut opposes all forms of discrimination and does not condone any relativization of it. If you observe or experience a discriminatory incident yourself, please contact our awareness team.

In case of an emergency or if you need support in a conflict situation, you can also approach any festival staff member and they will call the awareness team directly.

As a holder of a disabled person’s pass, you may bring an accompanying person of your choice. The accompanying person is not required to register separately for the festival. If you have any problems with registration, please do not hesitate to contact us: veranstaltungen@goethe.de

Certified assistance dogs and guide dogs for the blind are of course welcome. Water for your four-legged companions is available at the meeting point.

Communication assistance in plain language is also available at the festival. This will help you to understand the programme and the workshops. Please ask the staff at the entrance or our awareness team at the information point.

Part of our programme will be translated into German Sign Language. This is marked by a corresponding symbol in our programme overview: Timetable

The disabled parking spaces are located in the inner courtyard of the “Pfefferbett” rear building. Vehicular access to the car park is via Christinenstraße 18–19.

We have assessed the accessibility of the festival site together with experts from Initiative Barrierefrei Feiern. All public and social areas have been classified as wheelchair accessible. If you require assistance on site due to mobility restrictions, please contact our awareness team.

Children and babies are also welcome on the festival site! However, we would like to point out that the festival is primarily aimed at adults and that there are no special events programmed for children. Free childcare for children aged 3-10 years is available on the Pfefferberg area. On Friday, 20.05., and Saturday, 21.05., both from 10:45 am to 7:45 pm, caregivers of the agency Kinderzeit will look after your child (in small groups of maximum 10 children). The number of places is limited, therefore we ask for a prior and binding registration and a selection of your desired time slot(s). Parents with disabilities can contact our awareness team if they require support.
