The German Film Office is pleased to present David Nawrath’s award-winning film Atlas as part of its monthly German Movie Nights series. The film will be available to viewers across the United States.

Walter is a 60-year-old mover who specializes on evictions and the best and most loyal hauler that his boss Roland Grone employs in his moving company. Grone is planning a risky real estate deal that involves money laundering for a notorious family clan. The tenants of an inner-city apartment building are supposed to be evicted and the building sold with a huge profit. However, one remaining tenant refuses to leave. Walter recognizes the stubborn young man as the son he abandoned decades ago and has not seen since. Not revealing himself as his long lost father, Walter tries to get close to his adult son Jan and his family. Once he realizes how dangerous the men Grone is doing business with really are, Walter is already caught in the middle. His attempt to keep Jan out of danger ends in disaster.

Atlas won the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Award as well Best Actor (Rainer Bock) at the 2018 Torino Film Festival. It also received the Emden Screenplay Award in 2015.
