Foreign Cinema Night on Long Island

The German Film Office is pleased to co-present a screening of Natja Brunckhorst’s heist comedy Two to One at Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, NY as part of their Foreign Cinema Night, with an introduction by series curator Sahib Singh Bakshi.

Based on incredible true events and featuring a stellar ensemble including Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest), this historical comedy set during German reunification follows a trio that finds a stash of millions in soon-to-be-worthless Ostmarks. With wit and skill, they hatch an elaborate scheme with their neighbors to capitalize on the find and outsmart the system. “Hüller in particular conveys the almost-mischievous sparkle under exhaustion and concern. She delivers much of the film’s heart, and herein lies its poignancy. Two to One is undershot with very human fears and dreams, all of which feel rootless as a country, economic system, and worldview crumble.” (MovieJawn)
