Mérce has been publishing news, analyses, and opinion pieces in Hungarian since 2017. We are a media outlet explicitly committed to human rights, especially with regard to workers, women, and various disadvantaged social groups. As a platform for social and political analysis, we also aim to highlight the economic, social, and geopolitical causes underlying social relations. Mérce provides a platform for voices that defend initiatives and ideas promoting egalitarian and emancipatory political change. Mérce was the first Hungarian-language news site able to sustain itself through contributions from its audience, and today it still operates with about 70–80% of its funding coming from reader support, without paywalls or paid content.
