Sarah Baksyte

Sarah Baksyte is a journalist from Germany with roots in Lithuania and Afghanistan. Currently based in Denmark, she is pursuing the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Journalism, Media and Globalization, specializing in crisis and conflict reporting. Previously, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science in the Netherlands.

Her work focuses on migration and the social impact of conflict and displacement. Drawing from her own experience of growing up between cultures, she is particularly interested in how questions of belonging and nationalism are negotiated in Europe today.

Her work has so far been published in the Copenhagen Post as well as German local newspapers such as Berliner Morgenpost and Hamburger Abendblatt. 

Sarah is currently working on a short documentary exploring migration at the Lithuania-Belarus border in the decade following Lithuania’s independence.
