Jana

Jana is a freelance photographer and journalist with a background in human rights law and NGO work.

Her journalism started with a series about young women in Estonia struggling with mental health. She later covered political imprisonment in Belarus, Ukrainian refugees in Estonia, migration, and the lives and statuses of cultural minorities.

Jana prefers in-depth formats - documentary photography and long articles - and with her stories, she introduces readers to people who are different from them. She tells challenging stories of empathy and kindness. In interviews, she often asksthe uncomfortablequestionsso readersdon’thave to.

As part of the PerspectivesprogrammeatNarvamus, she covers inequality and women’s rights.
