Over three days, the Simurgh Festival explored the theme of ‘Journeys’; our opening event began with a short theatre piece by young Afghan and Indian performers on the different journeys they had taken in their lives.
There was music by
Sakhi Band, a duo on tabla and rubab, in collaboration with
Madan Gopal Singh and
Chaar Yaar. The performances included music from Afghanistan and India, ranging from the poetry and works of Rumi, John Lennon and Bertold Brecht.
