Quarks & Co. Beetles, Bumblebees, Butterflies - Are the Insects Dying?

Many people are sure: In the past there were more insects! Indeed, scientists in some regions of Germany are watching a dramatic decline. The decrease also affects other animals: bats, numerous amphibians and bird species feed on and depend on insects. Quarks & Co investigates: Why are the insects dying and how can we save them? In addition, Quarks & Co shows how the Golden Fritillary Butterfly could be rescued in Northern Germany and why many other species would benefit from it. Reporter Burkhard Weiß also learns how to become a butterfly counter and why this job is so important for the conservation of insects.
