In a national park on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, Anna and the German vet Christopher accompany a mahout - an elephant keeper - with his tame elephant, to look after the Asian elephants. The deforestation of the forest makes their habitat and their pantries ever smaller. Animal rights activists have therefore built areas in which no tree are allowed to be cut down and no animals may be shot. There, the mahouts guard and care for the wild elephants with their tame elephants and even have to defuse a snare trap.
