Out of Delivery: Emotional Migration in Hong Kong
Out of Delivery: Emotional Migration in Hong Kong is a six-week artist research workshop and culminating exhibition that brings together eight Hong Kong-based artists from diverse disciplines to explore themes of loneliness, self-imposed isolation, and inner emigration – set against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s complex and shifting socio-cultural landscape.
The workshop culminates in the development of new artistic works that reflect the participants’ insights and lived experiences. These outcomes will contribute to a larger exhibition and discourse program in August 2025, fostering cross-cultural dialogue on the emotional and societal dimensions of solitude in contemporary life.
In an era defined by rapid urbanization, digital saturation, and socio-political uncertainty, loneliness has become a pervasive yet often overlooked condition. Out of Delivery explores this phenomenon through an artistic lens, examining how individuals navigate isolation and the desire for connection within Hong Kong’s highly complex social landscape.
Out of Delivery aspires to contribute to an ongoing conversation about the human condition in contemporary society, highlighting the universal yet deeply personal nature of loneliness and the myriad ways individuals seek connection and meaning.
By framing individual experiences within both regional and global contexts, Out of Delivery amplifies voices that reflect the shared human condition. The project aims to foster a meaningful dialogue around themes of loneliness, connection, and the search for meaning in contemporary society, highlighting how these universal emotions are shaped by personal paths and collective journeys.
