EKO FRESH - 1989

German rapper, songwriter and actor Erkem Bora, a.k.a. Eko Fresh, started his career in 2001 with his EP “Jetzt kommen wir auf die Sachen” (“Now we come to the things”), which was produced by the Royal Bunker label. With more than 15 years of experience and unending success, the Cologne native is one of the real greats on the German rap scene.

Eko Fresh, who is under contract with Studio 71, campaigns for equal rights, equal opportunities and empowerment with his music and stands up against racism and discrimination with songs like “Aber” (“But”) and “Du bist anders” (“You are different”).

As part of an initiative by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, Studio 71 developed an interesting and entertaining campaign on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the wall in Berlin, with the idea of examining political topics relating to peaceful revolution, the fall of the wall and reunification. Eko Fresh released his song “1989” for this occasion, after previously calling on people to share their memories, thoughts and wishes of the reunification with him. With the help of these contributions and his own experience, Eko Fresh has created this unique song that we would like to present to you here.
