EU-Thai Urban Youth Forum

The project culminated with the EU-Thai Urban Youth Forum at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The forum provided an opportunity to learn first-hand from the youths about their initiatives and campaigns throughout the project, as well as about the European Youth Capital approach to creating spaces for youth participation.

17 youths and municipal representatives from Germany, Finland, Belgium, Greece, Romania and Lithuania joined 40 Thai youths, as well as over 30 civil society organization and municipal representatives including the Deputy Mayor of Hat Yai, members of Khon Kaen Municipality Council, the Chief of Chiang Mai Province Administrative Office, officers in charge of youth affairs of Paprek Municipality (Kanchanaburi) and the Deputy Governor of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, to exchange experiences and innovative approaches to including youths in the process of urban planning, design and development.

Moreover, between March 28 and April 2, 2023, the exhibition “MY YOUTH IS…?” was organized by ReThink Urban Spaces youths, inviting the public to define their perceptions and perhaps challenge some prejudices of what “youth” means in their eyes. The exhibition was visited by more than 10,000 members of the public and showcased the themes and issues highlighted by the youth-led campaigns in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Kanchanaburi and Hat Yai.

The EU-Thai Urban Youth Forum also offered the opportunity to build long-lasting bridges of cooperation between the EU and Thailand on issues relevant for cities today and tomorrow and provided a space for youths to be a key part in finding innovative concepts of cooperation.
