The project "Art on Site" is developing an artist-in-residence program in Russia. The purpose of the five residences of the project is not only to increase the small number of contemporary art residences in the country, but also to contribute to international exchanges in artistic circles.
Artist residences are places where creative potential is realized, like-minded people meet and exchange ideas and where intercultural interaction takes place. Many artists, musicians, writers and actors have already been receiving grants as part of the artist-in-residence program, for a few decades. Receiving organizations have been supporting participants financially, administratively and technically, thus giving them a chance to concentrate completely on their creative work and the production of new projects.
