Review Belarus Festival

From 22 - 25 March 2024, the Goethe-Institut in Exile organized an interdisciplinary cultural festival at Kunsthaus ACUD in Berlin, which focused on the vitality and diversity of the Belarusian cultural scene in the diaspora.

Review country focus Afghanistan

In the second half of 2023, the Goethe-Institut in Exile dedicated itself to Afghanistan's cultural scene. This new country focus was opened with a festival (30 June - 2 July 2023). During the three-day festival, elements of traditional and contemporary culture as well as current discourses of the diaspora were addressed. One focus was on making Afghanistan's diverse female and diverse art and cultural production visible.

In Soundspuren geht es um Alltag, Kultur und Musik aus Regionen, in denen lokale und internationale Kulturzentren aufgrund von prekären Sicherheitssituationen oder Zensur schließen mussten und vielen Künstler*innen Räume zum Leben und Arbeiten genommen wurden. Kunst- und Kulturschaffende aus verschiedenen Ländern erzählen von ihrer Heimat und davon, wie ihr Leben heute in Deutschland aussieht.

Soundspuren

In „Soundspuren“ geht es um Alltag, Kultur und Musik aus Regionen, in denen lokale und internationale Kulturzentren – wie das Goethe-Institut – aufgrund von prekären Sicherheitssituationen oder Zensur schließen mussten und vielen Künstler*innen Räume zum Leben und Arbeiten genommen wurden. Kunst- und Kulturschaffende aus dem Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, Syrien, Belarus und weiteren Ländern erzählen von ihrer Heimat und davon, wie ihr Leben heute in Deutschland aussieht. Die Sendereihe wird moderiert von der DJ und Kuratorin Taīz Nawab.

Goethe-Institut in Exile – A Look Back

In October 2022, the project "Goethe-Institut in Exile" opened its first country focus on Ukraine with an interdisciplinary festival. That was followed by various events on Iran, Belarus, Sudan and Afghanistan. We look back on inspiring exchanges and meetings as well as exciting contributions from art, culture and discourse we would like to thank all participating artists, partners and guests!
