A particular dream repeatedly overcomes 17 year old Aylin in her sleep: A long path leads her faster and faster through branches and leaves through freshly airy woods. Yet before she can see where the path ends she wakes up. The adolescent German Turkish girl desperately longs for the dream to go on.

At school Aylin gets into serious trouble but is given a second chance: she is sentenced to community service at a horse stable. In the beginning she seems lost between dungheaps, hand barrows and the rigorous stable owner Iris. Then she meets the wild Island pony Hördur. Aylin feels a magic attraction to Hördur and against all odds discovers her true passion for horseback riding.

On the horse´s back Aylin regains her self confidence confronting her school mates and her father who finally understand her for how she really is. And finally Aylin is not scared any more to awake before the end of her dream.

Hördur is a film about the magic of horseback riding and follows the rebellious Aylin on her way to becoming a self confident person with a self determined life.

Hördur is the movie debut of director Ekrem Ergün, son of Turkish so called “guest workers” in Germany and a trained actor. The script for Hördur was written by Dorothea Nölle based on a story by Ekrem Ergün and Stefanie Plattner.
