Open Call

Zeitgeist Open Call 2027

We are looking for proposal that matches the spirit of "Zeitgeist"! The term "zeitgeist" reflects the social and political characteristics of a certain period of time and encompasses ideas and rituals, values, behaviour, (emotional) attitudes and sensitivities. Projects that artistically address current issues in Hong Kong and/ or global issues and that centre on collaborative learning in artistic practice, participation and active exchange are welcomed.

Unruly Mirrors

“UNRULY MIRRORS” examines beauty salons in East and Central Asia as ambivalent spaces: as sites for the reproduction of normative ideals—and at the same time as spaces of possibility for intimacy and subversive resistance. The project asks: How can aesthetic practices be rethought as forms of self-determination?
Through an open call, we invite artists from all disciplines to apply with existing works or new project proposals.

200 Years of Photography: Images, Representation and AI

200 years ago, reality found a new form in France: a lasting photographic image. Today, AI can generate pictures with no referent at all. What does a photograph mean when anyone can fabricate one? Who decides what is real? We invite photographers, artists, journalists, students and curious practitioners to join a week of intensive workshops with mentors from France, Germany and Hong Kong.
