International Forum of the Theatertreffen 2026 of Berliner Festspiele

Theatertreffen in Berlin is considered to be the most important presentation platform of German-language theatre. Beside the ten remarkable productions from the German-language region, selected by ajury of critics, Theatertreffen has invited aspiring artists from around the world for over 60years to take part in the International Forum, a 17-day scholarship programme.

  • German Film Forum: Strangers at Home

    German Film Forum: Strangers at Homeexplores the fragile, complex nature of family through five bold German films. From bruied secrets to uncanny powers and andriod children, each story reveals how those closest to us can feel unfamiliar - and how outsiders can problematise, challenge, and ultimately illuminate the meaning of love, identity, and belonging within home.

  • Streaming Platform

    Goethe on Demand

    On Goethe on Demand, the streaming platform of the Goethe-Institut, we present a variety of online film programs, film festivals and film series that can be streamed from home. More information about the alternating film series can be found here. The films are presented in original language with subtitles. They are accessible online and free of charge after registration.

  • Film archive

    Our Film Archive in Hong Kong and Shanghai offer approximately 600 German feature films and documentaries (with various subtitle languages) on DVD or Bluray Format. Cinemas, film festivals, and cultural and educational institutions are welcome to borrow them free of charge for non-commercial purposes. We look forward to receiving your request.

    2026 Goethe Gallery: Zeitgeist Hong Kong

    Goethe-Institut Hongkong would like to build on the idea of the "zeitgeist" and create a space for projects by Hong Kong artists and cultural initiatives in its 143m² gallery and 47m² black box, in which the questions and sensitivities of the time can be addressed.

    Solitude: Loneliness & Freedom

    What does it mean to be alone–by choice or by circumstance? This cross-cultural Goethe-Institut project brings together artists and curators from East and Central Asia and Germany who explore solitude through performances, exhibitions, and thought-provoking discussions.     Extreme weather, drought, pandemic... Is our earth about to collapse? Will we and the animals survive the climate change? But we can save the earth if we live more consciously! Come to the Goethe-Institut Hongkong on July 31 to participate in the Goethe Earth Day! Here you will meet creative local companies that produce sustainable and eco-friendly products. City of Dreams and Fears

The Goethe-Institut Hongkong and the French Consulate of Hong Kong are excited to partner with the School of Creative Media, the City University of Hong Kong for the project “City of Dreams and Fears”. This initiative explores games as a powerful medium to narrate and represent futuristic visions of cities, their urban spaces, icons, and histories through innovative game mechanics and world-building. The project is co-funded by the Franco-German Cultural Fund.
