Afraa Ahmed (b. 1992, Yemen), currently based in Cairo, is a versatile artist working across various mediums, including installation, sculpture, photography and video. She holds a degree in Multimedia Technology from Asia Pacific University in Malaysia, where Afraa began delving into the concept of home, its safety, and how the sense of familiarity persists even when the notion of home becomes alienating. Her artistic endeavours have been showcased in exhibitions across Malaysia, Egypt, New York, and Washington, DC., notably at the Middle East Institute. Afraa was awarded a grant from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) to further explore the complexities surrounding the meaning of home in her practice.
