6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Online Goethe-Institut Tokyo, Hall

Goethe-Institut Tokyo

Women7 (W7) is a group of civil society organizations that come together to promote proposals on gender equality and women’s rights within the G7 process. Building on feminist principles of intersectionality and inclusion, W7 aims to bring together voices from civil society around the world to critically reflect on and inform G7 outcomes. Its objective is to ensure that G7 leaders make concrete political and financial commitments that can have a tangible, lasting and transformative impact on the lives of women and girls in all their diversity. Women7 hosts rotate on an annual basis along with the G7 presidencies.

At the turn of the year, the W7 presidency thus passed from Germany to Japan. On this occasion, W7 Germany and Japan, in cooperation with the Delegation of EU to Japan, jointly invite you to their official handover and kick-off event at the Goethe-Institut Tokyo. Together we want to discuss important aspects in terms of gender equality for the G7 Presidency 2023: What successes and progress of the German G7 Presidency 2022 need to be preserved and pursued? What needs to be done better by Japan in 2023 and what are the demands of feminist civil society to the G7?

These questions will be discussed by the representative of #nandenaino Project, FIFTYS Project Kazuko Fukuda, EU Ambassador to Japan Jean-Eric Paquet, and representatives of W7.

Please register here if you want to partake in-person. (The event it now fully booked: Jan.19, 2023)

In addition, the event will be streamed live. Please register for online participation here.
