Strawberry Winter: Seasonality and Ritual
While tradition ties seasonality to the rhythms of nature, modern agriculture is driven by markets, geopolitics, and technology. Strawberries, a summer fruit that has become a winter specialty in Japan, reveal the complexity of these post-seasonal dynamics.
Anastasia will open her studio to share her interpretation of a Japanese Christmas cake and her research on how rituals can celebrate the hidden realities behind the hothouse strawberry tradition.
Open studio with Shelley
15:00-15:45 for adults, max. 15 Persons, admission free
Plants and Bodies
A group gathering around researching seaweed as a teacher of change, a medicine, and an ally. Shelley will share practices for engaging with questions through all of our bodily senses to exchange knowledge and experiences related to seaweed.
We will meet in the quiet tatami area, communicating in English and Japanese, and participation is requested for the entire session.
