To mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea, the KIKA cas gallery in Kyoto, which showcases the latest scene of contemporary art, will hold a solo exhibition by Seoul-based South Korean artist Bona Park.
“The will to cook and eat one’s own meals fosters a person’s independence and recovery. When someone is able to prepare their own meals and share them with others, a place “to live” becomes possible.” Struck by these insights of another woman, artist Bona Park has deeply engaged with the friendships borne between women that defy logic.
Based on Park’s collaborative workshops with a group of women, this exhibition explores non-linear possibilities of communication through poetry, video, embroidery, and drawing.
Bona Park will stay in Kyoto for four weeks through the Villa Kamogawa short-term residency programme.
