PROJECT MRT—Natureless Solution YCAM

PROJECT MRT — Natureless Solution critically reconsiders the future of food production detached from the natural world—such as cultured meat and vertical farming. The exhibition satirically reflects today’s condition in which data often outweighs the reality of food itself, questioning the tensions and contradictions embedded in our pursuit of technological “solutions.”
Sarah Kantrowitz joins this project at YCAM.

Kantrowitz is an architect recognized for her practice of process architecture, which emphasizes social and ecological interrelations. Her work reimagines industrial systems—those involving food, energy, or waste—from the perspective of human and environmental connection, transforming purely mechanical infrastructures into spaces where life and relationships can flourish.

The exhibition traverses bio art, architecture, design, and environmental ethics to ask a fundamental question: Can we truly achieve sustainability by separating ourselves from nature?
In conjunction with the exhibition, YCAM OpenLab 2025 invites experts from Japan and abroad to discuss the future of bioeconomy, food culture, and sustainable design.
