Our projects are created in partnership and close cooperation with cultural institutions, cultural initiatives, and artists from Korea, Germany, and worldwide. They invite an open, trusting dialog, joint artistic production, and the exchange of diverse perspectives.

    What does it mean to be alone–by choice or by circumstance? This cross-cultural Goethe-Institut project brings together artists and curators from East and Central Asia and Germany who explore solitude through performances, exhibitions, and thought-provoking discussions.   • TZUSOO on digital beings and motherhood

    At MMCA Seoul, the fifth ‘Agarmon’ is currently growing inside an iron womb—a hybrid being that shatters the boundaries between the digital and physical worlds. Accompanied by the ‘Eight Spirits of Flesh,’ a fascinating yet unsettling aesthetic unfolds. We speak with the artist TZUSOO about her journey from ‘Schrödinger’s Baby’ (2019) to the current exhibition ‘Agarmon Encyclopedia: Leaked Edition,’ diving into her unique world between art, technology, and identity.

  • Many Worlds Over

    During the pandemic, artist Ayoung Kim was confined to her studio and relied on delivery apps for her daily meals. This experience sparked profound questions, culminating in her 2022 work, "Delivery Dancer's Sphere." Two years later, she received the ACC Future Prize and created "Delivery Dancer's Arc: Inverse."   • A space for ideas: How creative young people are rethinking Bauhaus

    The Bauhaus Archive in Berlin is creating an open space for young perspectives, artistic experiments and social debate. The “Young Bauhaus” collective combines creativity and community, builds bridges between history and the present, and shows how courageous, diverse and forward-looking young people are today. The following interview is about a quest for identity, social cohesion, participation in culture and the arts, and the power of collective creative processes.

Digital library

The Onleihe is Goethe-Institut’s digital library (eLibrary). Here you can download about 20,000 German language eBooks, audio books, movies, materials for German language learners, magazines and newspapers.

Film archive

We offer institutions and cultural associations over 650 German films on DVD free of charge for non-commercial screenings in Korea.

On-site cultural archive

The on-site archive of the Goethe-Institut Korea tells the story of the institute's multifaceted activities since 1968 and can be visited by appointment.
